PlanCaps

Methodology

How we collect, check and publish prices and usage limits. By Brandon Hoglund, founder. Data last checked 2026-10-19.

Daily checks of official pages

Every day around 7 AM Pacific, we recheck each tracked tool's official pricing page and usage docs, plus the sources behind our models by plan table and deals page. We compare what the vendor states now with what we published before.

Only official sources

We only use vendor-owned pages: pricing pages, help centers and docs. We don't use reviews, forum posts or chatbot answers. Every tool page lists the URLs it was built from and the date we last checked them.

No guessed numbers

If a vendor doesn't state something, like a daily cap or an exact reset time, we mark it unverified or "not listed" instead of estimating. Where a vendor publishes a range or an estimate (for example, OpenAI's per-5-hour Codex message estimates), we label it as an estimate.

Logging changes

When a price, limit, plan or model list changes, we update the page and add a dated entry with a source link to the changelog. Subscribers get an email about it.

Corrections

Found something wrong? Reply to any PlanCaps email with the tool, the plan and a link to the vendor page. We recheck it against the official page and fix it in the next update.
